At Manuel Rodríguez Guitars, sustainability is at the heart of craftsmanship. The commitment to the environment begins with the production of guitars in Europe, in a local climate, for the climate. By keeping production close to home, transportation routes are shortened and the ecological footprint is reduced.
To further minimize negative impacts, environmentally friendly water-based lacquers are used that promote a healthy planet without compromising the quality of the instruments.
In addition, European woods are sourced to ensure responsible forestry. Other tonewoods used have been in the family for generations.
With great appreciation for the gifts of nature, guitars are made with the utmost care and respect to create musical masterpieces that are appreciated by musicians and the environment alike.
Eco-friendly finish
The valuable wood of a guitar must be protected by a varnish. In addition to shellac varnish, which is laborious to apply by bale, polyester and acrylic varnishes have become established. These widely used, solvent-based varnishes are inexpensive, easy and quick to apply, but pose an environmental risk. Manuel Rodríguez guitars therefore use water-based, environmentally friendly eco-lacquers. The proportion of volatile organic compounds in this alternative is less than ten percent. Water-based lacquers are an important step in the right direction as sustainability requirements increase, from production to disposal.
